Ash's Strongest Pokemon

Back in the old days, Pikachu was ridiculously overpowered.

It could take out Golem's, Onix's, Rhydon's, and Marowak's with electric attacks, which really shouldn't have happened.

After the first few seasons ended they stopped doing this and started to follow the game rules in terms of type a bit more.

But don't be fooled, the series still doesn't follow the games rules perfectly. Remeraber when May's Glaceon knew 6 moves? But you do make a good point, it does seem that back in the first couple seasons, the games rules were almost ignored completly.

But the earlier seasons also had more game in structure like remeber when Pikachu got hurt in Squirtles first aprerrance he had to get a potion. Or when Jessie was reading that Pokemon evolve through leveling up before Ekans evolved. I don't see any on the in Diamond and Pearl.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I wanted to express my thoughts on this.

While I have heard people were disappointed with how Charizard and Squirtle were left and we had no idea if they would appear again for awhile, I don't think that everyone who watched Pokemon felt like that. I don't believe that I did say that no one felt like that. I was trying to point out that not everyone felt that way about Johto. I've heard people describe Johto being the last good saga for them and the worst for others as well. People do have different tastes on Johto.

As for the GS Ball never getting resolved and the fillers, I wasn't too bothered by the fillers. I did think that it wasn't a good idea to act like the GS Ball never happened, but I didn't hold that against the series that long anyway. I also did mention how the series was losing its huge level of popularity at that point, but I did forget to mention the movie results for movies three, four and five.

Perhaps it would help my case if I saw more of Johto, other than Master Quest recently, but I still don't remeraber it being that bad. The closest I ever came to really complaining about it while watching it was when I would wonder when the heck Ash would get another badge. That usually only lasted for an episode or two and then I was fine with how the pacing went. I understand where you're coming from and I respect your opinion. I just wanted to express how plenty of people feel different about Johto and I don't think everyone in the entire fanbase dislike it that much at all.

I'm not sure if I would call Ash stupid for that. He usually doesn't face an Electric Pokemon in battle or at least not that often. Electric moves do work on Electric Pokemon since I remeraber how Pikachu took down a Magamite in Master Quest with a Thunderbolt and a Quick Attack. I think that it's only the Electabuzz that is shown to grow stronger with electric attacks.

There have also been examples of Pokemon knowing more than four moves well before May's Glaceon. There was Lt. Surge's Raichu and Lance's Dragonite from the Orange IslanRAB with about six moves. I also remerabering thinking that the Dusclops from Advance Challenge knew five moves, but I haven't seen that episode in ages so I'm not completely sure of that.

Fixed.

Ash does have a bit of retardation when he gets to new regions. He's been on the road for over 3 years and yet he still has crappy judgement when it comes to battles. Its like his mom whacks him on the head every time he leaves for a new region so she can experience that first day over and over and over again.

Yes, that would be a good thing.

But still, Electric moves still won't have that much effect. I think the electric move do a little damage, but they power up the pokemon more than than what's done in damage. So in all, it's still probably not a good idea to use an electric move against an electric pokemon.

Refixed. Drake had his Dragonite use six moves against Ash in the Orange islanRAB.

Well, any L50+ pokemon can obviously beat a L10 pokemon, even if it has a type disadvantage. But Pikachu has for the most part battled worthy opponents, so using electric moves still would not be that good of a choise.

Ok, I'll give you that, but remeraber, the series doesn't follow the game exactly. So in the series, if that same battle happened, it probably would have taken a little more than Charge+Spark to take down Magnemite.

That sounRAB right, otherwise he would have battle that Treecko from the start.

I always assumed that Pikachu always go down in strength in every region he goes into, cause I mean the Gym Leaders use the same Pokemon from the games, and I think that at that point Pikachu should be able to own the first few gyms with relative ease. Pikachu should be strong to take down anything.

You might be right but I do have to add this, among the older fans (high school and beyond), Johto was probably what killed Pokemon for a lot of them. Obviously im assuming much here but thats how I and the five pokemon fans I knew back in high school felt, you had Ash with his overpowered and nasty pokemon about to LOL there way to the top of the Johto League and then boom, they hit the reset button, no more charizard, squritle, Bulbasaur etc. The plot just never moved from that point on and then you had so many countless filler, I mean you pretty much ask yourself whats the point? Call me when he hits the league champion (which somewhat redeemed Johto in my eyes).

Well, it has been shown in the series how attacks from the same type of Pokemon have done damage, such as Charizard's battle with Blaziken during the Johto League. It was obviously in pain whenever Charizard landed a Flamethrower on it. It really depenRAB on the Pokemon's strength to determine if same type attacks cause enough damage.

As for levels, I don't really think that they have been clearly mentioned in the series, outside of that School of Hard Knocks episode back in season one. While the characters have mentioned to consider a Pokemon's level after that event, it has never been in terms of nurabers like it is in the games.

Oops. I mixed up their names. My mistake. Sorry about that.

I understand where you're coming from and you have some good points. However, I was just trying to say that just because some people feel that way about Johto doesn't mean that everyone felt like that about it. I've heard of people who totally loved Johto and people who considered it a waste of a chuck of episodes. I was just trying to show that even if there is an arc is generally disliked by some people of the fanbase, there are those who also like that same arc. Everyone has different tastes. I'm really not sure how I felt during Johto as a whole since I haven't seen the first two seasons in a long time, but I didn't think that it was beyond horrible. I still loved waking up on Saturday mornings to Pokemon episodes during the Johto saga.

I completely agree with that lineup Lazerboy, Kingler and Muk are extremely underrated and are really powerful. Bulbasaur & Squirtle are up there too, but I don't think they're quite there.

Well, I think that might be different just because that deals with fire types. Fire just seems like a damamging element to me. Whereas Electric types tend to become stronger when in contact with electrisity. But Electric types can get hurt by electric moves when the electrsity is too overwhelming. You know, like giving Pikachu a little electrisity will heal it, but give it a massive amount all at one, like in battle, and it'll do a little damage, but not all that much.

Thanks. I've put a lot of thought about this subjet for awhile. I wasn't just throwing darts at a dart board with Ash's pokemon on it.

Yes you did, but what did you expect, I am a pokemon master.
