Ash's Strongest Pokemon

Since we were getting a little off topicin the "Pokemon- When Will it End" Thread, I thought it would be good to create a new thread about some of the stuff we were talking about.

So the question is: Who all is Ash's strongest pokemon? And not just "The" strongest, but who would all make up Ash's strongest team of 6?

Obviously, first is Pikachu. Pikachu has the most experience on Ash's team by far, and there's no possible way that Pikachu isn't one of Ash's strongest.
Second is Charizard. Charizard is probably Ash's strongest pokemon he had ever trained. Being fully evolved also give Charizard an advantage, and by constantly training in the Charisific Valley, Charazard has gotten amazingly strong. Charizard was even able to top Articuno in battle.
I also see Septile as one of Ash's stongest. Again, fully evolved gives an advantage. And I liked how it had a very good and complete ballance of speed, power, and toughness.

Now those are the ovbious three to me, but I've been debating the others for awhile and this is what I've come up with.

Snorlax. Ash usually likes a tough, hard, long fight. And Snorlax is prefect for his battle style becuase Snorlax has a very high nuraber of hit points, and it has great endurance. Snorlax will be able to last longers than most of his other pokemon, and in a grudge-match type battle, Snorlax will come out on top more times than not.
Muk. Muk adRAB an extra dimension to Ash's team, being a posion type. Ash has been know to be clever at times, and Muk is probably the most tricky pokemon on his team, and Ash will take full advantage of that.
The last pick was also diffucult, but I came up with Kingler. Why? pretty much becuase it's a water type, and probably Ash's best to this point. Nothing specially really about this choise, becuase we're starting to get to the bottom of the barel.

Who would I like to see return to Ash's team: Pidgeot. Pidgeot, one of Ash's few fully evolved pokemon left to Viridan Forest, and I would like to see them reunite becuase Pidgeot is one of Ash's strongest, but I highly doubt it's going to happen at this point.

This gives Ash a pretty decent mix of types as well, Electric, Fire/Flying, Grass, Normal, Poison, and Water.

So what do you think?

I'd say Pikachu, Charizard, Sceptile and Snorlax are definitely the big 4.

Beyond that all the rest of them are relatively good, aside from Totodile and Noctowl who are easily his weakest Pokemon and fairly pathetic.

Why do I feel ashamed for posting in this thread....

well, anyway, seeing as how that little yellow rat has been around for like 400+ episodes now, and has yet to actually be beaten... I'd call that pretty powerful. Actually, I'd call it ridiculously overpowered, but never mind. I miss Charizard...

Okay, maybe we should change the thread, since almost everyone will say Pikachu and/or Charizard. It should be "Ash's Strongest Pokemon who isn't Pikachu or Charizard".

I agree with that. Pikachu has always play to it's opponent's level, whether higher or lower. I mean, we've since Pikachu come through in the cluth several times against very tough opponents, but then sometimes Pikachu just has a hard time against weak opponents, like Paul's Elekid.

I'd say the most arguably "What the hell just happened?" moment for pikachu would have to be his match against Norman's Vigoroth. After all Ash had gone through and after all the matches pikachu won in its days, NOW is the time where is gets its tail handed to it on a broken and dusty platter? I mean that wasn't even a match, pikachu was basically a punching bag. Not only that, but the finish really slayed me; Vigoroth double edges pikachu so hard her breaks a chunk of the wall he was thrusted into. I was very very confused when I saw that match and haven't recovered since.

Yeah that's the thing though: since Pikachu is Ash's constant that never leaves his team his strength goes through various levels due to how he has to be powered down everytime they come to a new region in order to be at the level of Ash's new team. Due to the fact that Ash only ever uses Charizard in super tough battles after he leaves it in Charisific valley and for the most part always comes through for him I'd say Charizard is Ash's strongest. Hell a lot of the battles in Hoenn and Sinnoh could of been won if Ash simply used Charizard. But going with the whole "have to restart" philosphy he can't. Which is a shame really. Since that means Ash will never really the best if he has to keep cycling between Pokemon strengths. Then again I'm sure we all know that's the point of the show by now so why argue with that?

While I understand where you're coming from, it would gotten pretty boring if Ash had used his seriously strong Pokemon, like Charizard, in gyms from the Hoenn League and the Sinnoh League. It wouldn't be nearly as challenging if he used his older Pokemon and he would be training the same kind of Pokemon all of the time. Besides that, developing a new team gives Ash even more strong Pokemon in the end, such was the case with his AG team, and that would help him out in further battles by having a larger amount of Pokemon to choose from for occassions like the Battle Frontier.

Anyway, I'd have to go with Charizard as Ash's strongest Pokemon. While Pikachu has been with him since day one, I think that Charizard has shown more impressive power overall. It especially helps that it trains every day and we see how it learns new attacks every time it comes back.

Pikachu would be a really close second and it has shown great electrical attacks over the past years.

Third would be Sceptile since it is one of Ash's fully evolved Pokemon and it has a good balance of speed and attack.

The fourth would be Bulbasaur. It's one off Ash's strongest Grass types and its willingness to fight on through a battle has been helpful to Ash in the past.

The fifth would be Squritle. I agree that its training with the Squritle Squad helps to keep it in powerful shape. I do think that Corphish is tied with Squritle as Ash's best Water type, or at least close to it.

The fifth I would give to Snorlax. It was impressive at the Johto League and during the Battle Frontier for Ash. It has a really nice variety of attacks to choose from as well.

lol who here remerabers his pidgeot that he just left and it never came back again cuz it had to protect pidgeys or something. but charizard has to be storngest

In all seriousness, I dont think Pikachu's strenght can be measured hence why i wouldnt put him in this discussion. Pikachu's level of strenght is whatever the writers want it to be, he has no set bar unlike a Charizard or a Septile. Pikachu is simply a mascot at heart, he can hold his own against a legendary pokemon or get its ass handed to him by a rookie trainers Piplup. Hence its enigma status and therefore has no place in a list of Ash's strongest pokemon.

I'd say Swellow is another heavy hitter. Whenever Ash was in trouble Swellow would come out and solve the problem. His GUTS ablity make him fight harder the harder things get. Even against type advantage like an electric type or ice type it will give quite a fight.

Frankly, in terms of accomplishment, Swellow is the best bird Ash ever got. Pidgeotto rarely did anything interesting until he evolved to Pidgeot and left. Swellow kicked butt all over Hoenn!

I definitely agree. I think that Swellow is Ash's best Flying type Pokemon too. It was in a lot of battles, mostly after it evolved, and it proved its strength quite a few times, like during the Hoenn League and the Battle Frontier. It's too bad that Pidgeotto didn't really do much since it could have done a lot too, but the show was new and the writers mainly focused on Pikachu and the three starters in terms of what Pokemon got spotlight attention.

It fact, I'm willing to say that all of the Pokemon in Ash's AG team were awesome. Most of them had evolved, except for Corphish but I think that it didn't need to evolve since it had proved its strength a couple of times, and they had an impressive set of attacks. The way that Ash set up his team and how that team developed was one of the reasons why I really enjoyed the Hoenn and Battle Frontier sagas.

If you look back at very early Johto, it had this exact problem. As long as Ash had Charizard, you knew he wasn't going to lose. I remeraber a few times when he sent out Charizard against weak Pokemon like Chikorita and even Misty would comment about how cheap it was.
