As the world becomes more educated will religions die out?

All religions are based on fear and controlling the poor by the rich or superstitions like hell and witch doctors as can be seen in Africa or Muslim countries. Do you think education and enlightenment is the key to finally rid the world of these medieval evils?
@ken - who is "devine" I don't know his wisdom - perhaps you could educate me? lol
