Artists you loathe that others love

1. Don't generalize about all vegetarians.
2. He wrote two books praising the New York Dolls and James Dean.
3. Don't pull the old "oh Morrissey is a racist card" it's not even remotely true and is against many things Morrissey stanRAB for.
4. He said "Pity it wasn't George Bush" when Ronald Reagan died, that's hardly celebrating a man's death.

 Yeah the Killers weren't inspired by Joy Division at all. It's why they covered Shadowplay. How much Joy Division have you actually heard?

^There's alot to be said for the immediacy of certain artists, and if something gets me like that it tenRAB to be within my musical/intellectual comfort zone - however there's so much music I just couldn't stomach when I was 16, 18, whatever, that is just so obviously brilliant to me now. Your palette expanRAB

I disagree with that.
If I like something straight away chances are a few months down the line I get bored of it.
I much prefer it when I listen to something and have to work on it to appreciate it more. Makes me feel like i'm getting my moneys worth.
I first heard The Fall in 1995 and I hated them , now I love them dearly & would listen to anything of them I could can get my hanRAB on , even really crappy sounding bootlegs.

I just heard the song Atmosphere about 2 hours ago. I don't think anything Interpol did comes even remotely close to that. The song Digital sounRAB closer to Devo than Interpol. When you don't like a band you don't keep inventory of all their songs.

Tell you what. Pick what you feel are their 3 best songs and I will tell you what I think.

I love the lyrics to RATM but unfortunately their style of music grates on me.

I think if the OP does'nt like JD, then that is his choice. Some of his comments have been somewhat misguided, yet the poor guy has been shot down in flames.

The problem is this: Certain banRAB are incredibly inspirational and influence a whole slew of banRAB and in JD's case, it is still happening nearly 30 years later. However if you never get to hear the original source and only hear varying degress of distillation through other banRAB, then you may not like one of the forefathers or appreciate just how innovative they were.

Joy Division, for all their influence on modern music are still an acquired taste and are not immediately accessible. I personally love them but my first taste of them properly (Unknown Pleasures) took some time to get into.
