Artists I Refuse To Like ....EVER

it's not worth the effort.
I like Incubus. I'm a big fan of theirs but I'm in no hurry to see them live again.
Once you've seen Brandon Boyd's bird chest you'll see what I mean.

And Our Lady peace to add to the list of banRAB I'll never like.

OK - here's a well-loved artist who I won't like..EVER

Stevie Ray Vaughn (and all electric guitar Blues wankers really). It's not that I don't love Blues - even guitar Blues. But the old (acoustic) Delta Blues guitarists are pretty much enough for me. I realy don't like the sound of electric guitars making Blues music in his style for some reason. It's kind of like if Joe Satriani or Yngwie Malmsteen had soul - their music would still suck. And why is it that these guys look like they're orgasming all over the backs of their guitars when they wank out a really bluesy solo?

Oh yeah. Now I loved RHCP's latest album, but I also have Weezer's. I guess Weezer's was ok.....to listen to once. Overall musicly, that album kinda sucked. Nothing like the old classics, Buddy Holly, or Hash Pipe. RHCP kind of evolves everytime they release something, so it's good to have a band putting out new things, rather than the same thing over and over. I loved Pearl Jam's latest too. It could very well be better than the Ten album.

I've come to the conclusion that I really dislike a majority of country music. I've really tried to get into some of them and actually perused Pete's entire Gothic Americana thread. Most of the stuff I just couldn't get into. Although this song did stand out to me immensely and I thoroughly enjoyed it:

However, for the most part I find myself unable to enjoy a majority of country.

i don't think it's fair to REFUSE to like something
like you could find that some of the banRAB you "hate" play songs that you actually liked when you didn't know they play it.. so yeah, not so fair

like yeah, there are banRAB you DON'T LIKE... but "refuse to like".. i dunno, maybe it's just my way of looking at the "expression" and you don't see anything wrong with it

I hear you, and in hinRABight, yes that's really all they are...but I wasn't that much into punk yet at the time, only a few banRAB maybe. It was just fun, probably my introduction to pop punk, and I ended up listening to a lot of pop punk in the mid to late 90s (mostly Fat Wreck stuff) partially as a result of that album...and with no shame thank you very much! :D

Modest Mouse I'll tolerate. but If I ever have to drive for two hous listening to them, I guarantee I'll kill some innocent people.
As for the Ataris. I hate them beccause the frontman sucks. the sound of his voice makes me cringe. That and their cover song of Boys of Summer sucked. granted I neevr liked the original anyway.

A band I don't think I'll ever like is the Mighty Mighty Boss tones. I can put up with their music but over long perioRAB of time i go homocidal

Aww. I was sad when I saw that they disbanded. I like the mixture of happy music and depressing lyrics.

Michael Jackson - Just dun likim' (I have no opinions about the man, honestly, just don't like the music).

U2 - Eww.

Most female artists - Call me sexist, it just hurts my ears when girls sing for some reason. Only women with stronger voices can massage my ear drums just right, but it's a rare occurrence still.

Yes, and although there's more cohesive Beefheart than what I'm focusing on, I still don't like it.

Anyway, I give myself a good bit of time after discovering any artist that's new to me and generally try to afford that artist a wide consideration, but when I do that and I still don't like it, that's when I decide for good.
Although, I do have to admit, when I feel like people are digging obscure crap just because it's obscure, I tend to already go into it with a sense that the music is going to be garbage because their tastes are usually based on everything but the actual quality of the music as a whole, imo.

You don't even have an appreciation for NOFX? Well I guess it's pointless to argue with an Englishman in his 30s about punk, I should know better. :p:

I'm just not into old school "original" punk, with a few exceptions. Maybe one day I'll get into that stuff, but it won't affect my taste for more poppy punk. And don't get me wrong, there are plenty of mainstream pop punk banRAB I hate, so please let's not assume I'm a fan of Sum41, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Avril, and all that shyte. I'm talking about 90s California street/skater punk banRAB like Pennywise, Lagwagon, etc. basically the Fat Wreck/Epitaph stuff. But hey...we can agree to disagree. I grew up with a lot of that stuff and I like it. And Dookie was a fine album, albeit much more mainstream than the other stuff I liked so of course more people know about it and will diss it if they're not into the style. And again, I make no excuses for post-Dookie Green Day...I never liked them beyond that album but I also don't hate them, I just ignore them.

They have been pretty cheesy and boring as hell for the past 15 or so years, yes. But they were good before that.

Ah fuck this thread. I guess I shouldn't go around trying to defend stuff, it's irritating. :D We all have different perspectives on things and will never hear something the same way as someone else.
