On ITV2 now...been a few years since I saw this.
Some really great comedy moments, and in truth few of them involving Dudley Moore...
I think Geilgud is hilarious...I love his line to Lisa Minelli upon meeting her -
'Charmed...one usually need to visit a bowling alley to encounter a person of your stature'
And Minelli herself shows a real flair for comedy, very appealing and quick-witted.
But for me the usung hero is her slovenly father, who for me has some great deadpan, throwaway lines...
On being told by Minelli she met a strange man who bought her a tie, he starts warning her to be careful etc, until she says he is a millionaire and he replies -
'You have my permission to marry him'
And later when Arthur calls Minelli to cancel his first date with her, the scene where her father is inconsolable with grief and need to be comforted by her always makes me smile.
On the downside, Moore's drunk antics seem to grate a little with the passing of time.
