Any opinions on the first of 5 new Arthur Season 12 episodes on PBS Kids? The first was "Is That Kosher?/Never Never Never" aired on PBS Kids October 6, 2008. "Is That Kosher" features veteran actress Joan Rivers voicing Francine Frensky's grandmother Bubbie. Also Arthur has a new voice actor: Dallas Jokic (who was the voice of the Peach Boy in a Super Why! episode).

Holy................................!!!

That show is still alive???

I remember when my parents were REALLY strict about me watching cartoons when I was 4 and 5, so I never really got to get acquainted with Arthur.

I know it out-ranks Spongebob; SB's entering it's.... 6th season, right? Simpsons out-ranks everything. Pokemon and Flinstones are definitly up there, and so are South Park and King of the Hill. (I'm not gonna count Digimon, due to the many different continunuities and such; they're pretty much each an individual series, except the first two).

Tom & Jerry has been around for a while, and new shorts are still getting made, but there's so many different incarnations of T&J I don't think it can be mentioned. Same with Looney Tunes; the franchise has been around forever, but none of the series are currently in production.

Arthur is, at least, the longest running E/I show.

Except Spongebob is an odd case, because despite the fact that it's only in it's sixth season, it's been running since March 1999.

Arthur, as I recall correctly, is only surpassed in length that new episodes have been produced (among US cartoons) by The Simpsons, South Park, and King of the Hill.

Because Arthur started in 1997, and Family Guy started in 1999. :p

Though, I wonder how exactly one would count Family Guy, considering it was cancelled for a couple of years.

If educational TV in general is what's being referenced, the longest-running educational ("E/I") show would be "Sesame Street" (on the air since 1969).

-B.

Ooops. I meant longest running animation E/I show. I really am glad it's lasted so long; there are a lot of dumber shows out there, and Arthur contains some innuendos and references that make it watchable for adults, too.

Arthur is a very cute and fun show, and I enjoy watching it if I happen to catch it. I haven't watched a new episode (that I was aware of) in years, though (I mostly see reruns) - though I've heard from some people it's pretty close to "jumping the shark" if it hasn't already.
