  • FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
TORONTO (September 23, 2009) - Cookie Jar Entertainment is heading to MIPCOM with a full slate of exciting, new programming including "Kung Fu Dino Posse", "Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show" and "Peter Pepper's Pet Spectacular" as well as new episodes of Cookie Jar favorites: "Arthur", "Johnny Test", "Caillou" and "Magi-Nation". Cookie Jar will also be accepting tween-targeted, educational informative (E/I) programming for Cookie Jar TV and THIS TV, and previewing a host of shows currently in development for these programming blocks as well as networks around the world.

"Kung Fu Dino Posse" tells the tale of a pre-historic battle between good and evil which had been frozen, literally, for a millennia. With the evil Skor thawed out in modern day Megaopolis, it is up to the heroic, recently defrosted Kung Fu Dino Posse to stop him and his bumbling brother from destroying the city. The fate of the human race lies in the hands of 4 prehistoric kung-fu fighting dino heroes, Kane, Chow, Jet and Lucy. Cookie Jar and co-production partner Sunwoo are in production on 40 half-hours of the comedy-action series.

After 65 episodes of live-action international success, the Doodlebops now have their own animated series, "Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show" (52X11). Preschoolers can join Deedee, Rooney and Moe Doodle on their vibrant, fun-filled musical adventures. Along with their pal Bus Driver Bob, the Doodlebops help fans solve preschool-relatable problems by hopping on their magical tour bus and journeying to a fun new destination in each episode. "Doodlebops Rockin' Road Show", an international co-production with Illusion Studios (Argentina) and OPTIX Entertainment (Germany).

Cookie Jar is teaming up with Clockwork Zoo in its first South African-Canadian co-production, "Peter Pepper's Pet Spectacular" (52X11). This animated show for preschoolers puts them front row center in the exciting world of the performing arts. Powerhouse impresario, Peter, his talented best friend, Marianne, and all their furry, feathered and fishy friends explore everything that goes into putting on a spectacular pet show. Whether they're performing old-time Vaudeville routines, rehearsing a new dance, building a set or learning how to make costumes, their enthusiasm bursts off the stage and into viewers' hearts.

The 2009 production slate also features new seasons of four Cookie Jar favorites. Nearing 185 episodes in 2010, Cookie Jar is currently producing the 14th season of multi-Emmy Award-winner "Arthur". The comedy and action are back with an all new fourth season of "Johnny Test", set to air around the world in 2009 and 2010. Season five of "Caillou", a co-production with Clockwork Zoo, will have an increased focus on storylines about healthy habits relevant to kids today. And Cookie Jar is once again teaming up with Daewon Media to produce an all-new action-packed season of "Magi-Nation", filled with new dream creatures, quests and prophecies in the Moonlands.

With the popularity of international tween/teen-targeted series currently airing on U.S. network television, Cookie Jar is now providing producers the opportunity to break into the U.S. marketplace through Cookie Jar TV, Cookie Jar's three-hour weekend programming block on network TV in the U.S., and THIS TV, MGM and Weigel Broadcasting Company's 24/7 linear digital channel for which Cookie Jar provides children's programming. Cookie Jar is looking for tween-targeted, educational informative (E/I) programming and is open to submissions from producers and creators for all formats including animation, live-action, reality and game shows for the tween and teen demographic. Programming should be targeted to the nine-to 14-year-old demographic.

Cookie Jar will also be featuring a wide range of shows currently in development for the Cookie Jar-controlled programming blocks as well as networks throughout the U.S. and Canada. For the tween set, "M.U.D.P.I.T" (26X22) is a half live-action, half animated series revolving around four teens who form a virtual band called M.U.D.P.I.T. while playing their favorite online music game and become rock stars on the web. Now they must balance their off-line teen lives with their virtual world superstardom. "Abra Ca Debra" a tween-targeted, live-action comedy (26X22) features 15-year-old Cooper who wants to be a famous magician and 14-year-old Debra who just wants to have fun. When they become friends, they figure out how to use real life professional magic to help maneuver the ins and outs of adolescence. The live-action fantasy series "Zenda" (26X22) stars an inquisitive, headstrong teen who opens a Pandora's Box of power that puts her utopian world in jeopardy. She seeks to make it right by learning to master her powers.

In development for the younger set is "Ella the Elephant" (animated, 52X11). Based on the charming book series of the same title, the stories follow a shy little elephant named Ella who lives with her friends in the Elephant Islands, hidden by a fog so thick that no human being has even found them. "Furry Tales" (26X22) features comedic, yet classic stories with a canine twist?real dogs act out famous fairy tales! And for the 6-11 demo, "Half-Giraffe" (animated, 52X11) stars Wayne, a giraffe who was born with a small neck. Though he may be half the size of a regular giraffe, he isn't short on personality. Get ready for Wayne and his friends to get wild as they take on adventures in the jungle, and live BIG.

So (if I'm reading right), Cookie Jar wants to bring new programming to THIS TV and Cookie Jar TV. The only problem is that THIS isn't available in most cities

And the only shows I'm intrested in are Magi-Nation's new season, Arthur, Johnny Test and Zenda.

I'm guessing the corporate suits at Cookie Jar don't follow (much less play) video games. There's already a character named "Peter Pepper" (from the 1982 arcade game BurgerTime). G-Mode owns the rights to most of the Data East's characters, and so I wonder what they will do if they hear about this.

Anyway, I did a double take on Magi-Nation. The show aired back when it was still Kids' WB. I think it was 2007 or so. NOW they want to do another season? All I can say is, I wish them luck. Maybe if the original card game were relaunched, it might stand some kind of a chance...

I hope G-Mode can sue big! That'll show 'em! Perhaps as compensation, a much-deserve BurgerTime cartoon could be developed. (yeah, in my dreams) :p

What's next, naming a character Mr. Do!? :D

Magi-Nation was already out of date when it PREMIERED. And it did so too early in the morning for kids to see, on a programming block about to expire. It's also a blatant Pokemon ripoff and extremely confusing.

So yeah, second season!

The first two points, yeah... although there was a new Magi-Nation game that was released... to very little fanfare.

The third point? I don't see it.
