Ok, so im goign to a community college now- sophmore yr...
in the spring i am tranferring to ga state which apprntly has a good art program
the thing is, thats what I want to do-art
its my passion and the one thing i know im good at
the thing is, i dont know what to do
go to georgia state or the art school in philly that ive had my eye (tyler)
I thought i waould get my undergrad at state and a higher degree in an art school

but then a part of me just wants to go directly into art school
the thing is, i dont know what exactly i want to do
I love painting/drawing/making short compilation videos
I need guidance!!
my teacher told me it would be good to go to state because i could get the basics done and still do art. I dont know, what do you think?
My heart wants to be in art school but I don't know--a part of me says "be careful"

help please!!

also, ga st is a lot cheaper than the art school-obv!! i would only have to pay for two years to get my graduates at tyler...I dont know!! I dont really understand how it all works or what i should do
thank you so much, i will take in all your words-really helped me consider some things and open my eyes. thank you

I am also in the same dilemma but I have come to a conclusion. My plan is to go to an art university and get through the first four years, with fine arts as my major. One reason why I will be taking fine arts as a major is because now-a-days the economy is so low that if I do not find the opportunity to get a decent paying job in an art criteria then I will pretty much be screwed.

One thing that I read into however is that Business management is looking more interested in a master's degree in fine arts then a master's degree in Business, because they want to hire someone with a creative "eye." This will give me a runner-up option as to what I can do in case my dream doesn't work out and I end up working at McDonald's.

I suggest that you get a degree in fine arts (which includes everything that you like to do) and then you can figure out where you want to go from there.

I personally am I well-round artist who enjoys painting, sketching, molding, drama, visual effects. Because I am well round this gives me the idea of becoming an art manager in a high up university (within 5-8 years) while doing something I love and making a good living.

To start off with 1) get a side job, 2) aim for a degree in fine arts, and 3) look at all your options that will support you and also make you happy.

Those are my suggestions. Good luck!!!
