Worn out and threadbare would be my choice 
I love how old junk objects can give us indications as to their past lives through their damage and repair, it makes me wonder who owned them and why they're no longer with their owner. Sometimes old objects can be a reminder of loss or absence, they could have accompanied a person throughout his/her entire lifetime. Is a once loved object a close enough link to its owner to become symbolic of that person for future generations?
Look at Cornelia Parkers '30 pieces of silver' and 'perpetual canon'.
