Arnie's Commando getting remade....why?

Ok I'm getting really tired of all thes remakes and reboots now. Why in the hell are they remaking this film? Was there a demand for a remake of it? No! Is it a timeless classic that neeRAB to get regular remakes? No!

I can see a time coming soon where I'm going to start giving up on films in the cinema like I did for a lot of the 90's out of boredom and just read or play computer games instead.
The film industry is in danger of going down the same route as TV and producing crap because the people in charge are young idiots with no idea of what the term "original work" means.
TV is full of people that sit in pubs or around the office saying "I used to like......" then someone else chips in saying "yeah I liked that" and before you know it some bright spark says I wish they would bring it back or remake it. Whether it's Doctor Who, Survivors, The Prisoner, The Krypton Factor or (Strictly) Come Dancing, you know the idea started with someone saying I used to love watching that.
My nephew used to work in TV and he said the stuff or people that was discussed for coming back because "that would be so cool" is frightening.

Jumping back into the actual topic on "Commando" what is so original in this premise that it can't get remade slightly differently under it's own name? A guy's duaghtr gets taken and they guy has to do what he is told or she will die. He sets off to rescue her from her kidnappers. It's a story that has been done over and over again. It will get done over and over again, so why remake this film?
Commando doesn't even have a brand name like Batman, Jame Bond, Alien or Star Wars where you say it's a popular franchise and it's the latest film in the franchise.

I agree and really don't see why theyd remake this, its just your hunt-em-down type movie that Arnie made great with his one-liners. Way to shit all over my childhood Fox.

Why oh why do they do this ?? Are they so short of idea's in Hollywood ?? :)

Funny thing is, when they do take a gamble something like Donnie Darko or Little Miss Sunshine comes along !

They should leave Commando alone. It's a true classic, and still in my top ten films of all time. Hollywood is getting stale with remakes and reboots.
 
According to IMDB, Die Hard was a sequel to Commando but Arnie wasn't favorable with sequels due to the 2nd Conan being a flop, so they re-edited the story for Die Hard.

So its been done really.
 
This may not be entirely true right now but I did hear that Hollywood were only investing in remakes and sequals during the recession etc on the basis that if you remake a film or make a sequal there is the hope that a built in audiance will go and see it due to the fact they enjoyed the original/first one, I wouldn't agree with this but thats just me.
 
They'll never have the bottle to give the new version the same casual attitude to killing folks that the first one had. Arnie tops bad guys with gay abandon.
 
Remove the rose-tinted specs, please. I saw Commando a while back, and it's really just a bit of cheap rubbish that's sometimes unintentionally funny (look out for some hilarious shop dummy stand-ins for soldiers during explosions).

I know it's fondly remembered for it's eighties tackiness and blithe approach to killing, but, you never know, they may make a better film, which is surely the best reason for a remake. It certainly wouldn't be impossible in this instance.
 
Nooooooooooo!!!

This film is perfection, too good to be remade, these barstewarRAB need to put more effort in, and just make better films, rather than cashing in on someone elses idea.
