Army

Shit!

I'm the freaking age that'll be perfect if this "war" drags out like Vietnam.

I'm heading for the border, if drafted. Except the northern one. Canada, here I come.

if?!?!??

dude, they already quietly passed a bill (in 2003) saying leaving the country to avoid war is now an extraditable offense; in other words, if they draft you, they'll call up canada and say "send us this american citizen; he's criminally moved to canada to avoid war."

i'm the last year that will be considered eligible. i'll be 25 next year, hopefully after the draft starts. my job as an educator will not matter to them. my student status will not matter to them, all because of the new selective services bill.

but women still don't have to go.

honestly, your best strategy is to start marking "F" on all the forms you can get your hands on and if they draft you argue that you're biologically male but your gender identity is female. that will guarantee you a controversial argument all the way up to the supreme court, which will undermine the entire draft system and will either FINALLY create the equal rights amendment (women also have to be drafted) or you'll be safe from having to fight.

fuck these assholes.

I didn't know about that bill...

And by "if," I meant 4 more years (I'm only 14, way too young to be drafted).

Heh. Marking female on all forms... or I could simply ask if they had all-gay platoons when I showed up for duty.

Sure, they can't technically kick me out for that, but I'd bet that they'd find some reason to not let me fight. Sometimes, homophobia can work to your advantage

to me, being in the service at all is unreasonable. i don't want to handle paperwork that buys things that are used to kill people. i don't want to load missiles onto airplanes that will be fired on people.

i don't believe in killing people who aren't a direct threat to YOU within YOUR OWN domain of liberty.

and i most certainly would never fight in a war in which i didn't believe.
