Army life ? what was it like ?

could you please tell me what it was like to be in the army ? i just wanted to know the ups and downs.....
im not really interested in the paycheck, i wanted more the experience of becoming a "toughened" man...appreciating life more, complaining less about what i dont have, becoming a better person. Does the army give you that ?

Army life is what you make of it.

The Ups
1. Travel (all over the world)
2. Always taken care of (food clothes and housing)
3. Lots of New experiences (training and trying new stuff)

The downs
1. Someone tells you how to act and dress(like parents)
2. Travel (to places you dont want to go)
3. New experiences (like getting shot at)
