Army job choices for Women?

I'm about to sign up to join the military, more specifically the Army and I'm trying to narrow down what job choices I would like.

So far I've chosen:

Combat Engineer
Construction Technician
Artillery Soldier

While researching these jobs I found that in the US Army women are not allowed to do most of these jobs, and in Canada women are allowed but there are not very many because of the nature of the job and the strenuous activity it involves. Which I'm not contesting and can be understandable.

My concern is that I'm over reaching my goals, I am by no means a superior athlete but I can keep up with most and currently training to try and make BMQ easier on myself. I just don't want to shoot for a goal most girls cannot succeed at, I want to be realistic in my choices.

Any insight on this would be great.

BTW am i no way doubting myself, or saying that women cannot do a "mans" job

while in the army my MOS's were Cook, supply Spec. Admin Spec, and Printer, (also driver) try to find somethign that will tranlate into a civilian job, just incase you dontl take the GI Bill. or don't have time for collge.

If you're looking for a combat job, the army won't let you do it. If you're looking for a job with some action, the closest women can get is the combat support field. You could enlist into things like, transportation, military police and so on. But if you want a better idea go to goarmy.com and check out the different jobs that aren't closed to women.

there you go, i narrowed it down for you.

who gave me a thumbs down.. I answered the question and brought in evidence from the army's website.

Women can do the technical aspect of the positions that you mentioned (I mean the thought behind the job, I am aware that they are combat arms jobs and combat arms are not open to women), but you have to keep in mind that there is a great deal of physical ability that comes with these jobs. There is repetitive lifting and hauling equipment. If you are able to lift 100 lbs and walk a half of a mile with it, I say go for it. If you cannot, I would think twice. A combat engineer has to take their combat load and their construction/demolition equipment with them during missions. Some of these missions may not be mounted (meaning you have vehicles). Honestly though, I do not think that the positions that you mentioned above are even open to women, except for the construction technician. Are you talking about the Canadian Army?

combat engineer and artillery are men only, so of your 3 your stuck wtih construction. if your looking for something thats not a sit-beihind-the-desk job or a "only idiots do this job" MOS then:
medic and hope you dont get put in a hospitol...best you can hope for is a BSB or a BSTB
