Stress cards are an urban legend, and there is no soda or candy except if someone can sneak it in from the PX. The only weekend liberty I had when I was in 01' was to go to church, and I don't know what their current policy is on cell phones, but they weren't allowed when I was in.

Anyway it is stupid pissing contest since I don't think the differences between basics is big enough to really matter that much in the long run. Both services train you in the basics of combat, but neither is going to make you an expert soldier in that time frame. That is why it is called basic training.

okay. so im leaving for san deigo MCRD in july and i have this buddy who dep'd into the army and is talking down marine boot. i'd like some facts on why he's wrong..

i know all about marine corps boot camp and the 13 weeks of hell..which im looking forward to!

i was looking for more of what army goes through?
i've heard cell phones, weekend liberty, stress cards, soda, candy, etc..

no disrespect to you army people but i need some facts to make him understand

I think that marines and the army are about the same. But one thing I noticed, and the rest of my military family and the world, is that marines are MEAN. Don't ask me why. So some might say that MCRD is tougher because they drill you more, you know, more yellin, more screamin. But My dad and his dad, and his step dad and his uncle, and(well you get the point) agree from least to greatest which BT (Basic training is hardest, and which group is hardest.
1. Air force (nicest)
2. Navy
3. Coast Guard
4. Army
5. Marines (meanest)

I mean no offence to any marines. I love all soldiers.
All the marines I've met are not nice or good people. But then again, it was a bad crowed.
