My husband is in the army and our first duty station is going to be Fort Knox in Ketucky has anyone even lived there or does anyone know the area? What can we expect? hes new to this so hes E1 and I know that the higher rank the better the houses?? Also he is to report late september but he finishes AIT mid august does he get paid all this 1 month and a half or how does that work? Also he wanted to do some recruting stuff in our home town for 12 days how does this help or affect the time he has off? what bout traveling out side the United States?

the only reason the more rank you have the better house you have is because an e-1 does not make much and they do not get on post housing and rent off base

well i've been there, my brother was stationed there for a year during his first term. Im in the reserves in MI. The place is pretty small and boring, not really much to do, well my bro is kinda boring, so maybe he didnt try to hard. Don't worry your husband will be fine :) He'll be roomed with one other person, and they will change roommates once in a while. Rank doesnt really place you where u live too much..maybe he'll be with other e'4's and below though.

as for his 2 weeks of recruiting, everyone on active does that :) you work til sometime in the afternoon, and u get the evening with your family or to do whatever :)

as for traveling outside of the U.S, once he is stationed at Ft. Knox, and quartering there, he will have to wait til he has his 2 weeks of leave, then fill some papers out to his commanding NCO or officer, to say where he want to spend his 2 weeks of "leave", and yah i guess he'll be a passport away from whereever :D hope this helped, choose me :P
