Armageddon-is this the best film ever?

I asked a question and there is not many answered :confused:,isn't it a pity that we all don't think or live the same then this world I live in would be as boring as yours .:D:D:D
Just trying to get a good bit of banter going with alittle fun thrown in for good measure but it looks like that went down like the Titanic ,enjoyed that as well:p

Please feel free to enlighten this poor soul with your wealth of knowledge of the better films to watch .
 
I do enjoy it, but best film ever? - I don't think so :D

It's a bit too long but I do love a big disaster movie! Plus there are some bits in that still make me cry - especially the man and his little boy!
 
I wouldnt say its their worst.

Its certainly nto a bad song by any means..... its just a song you wish Aerosmith didnt do!!
 
Blackhorse47 , I'm not having the "some bit of Hollywood tosh " it is a good film !! it is one of the films that I believe will be remembered and go down in history as one of the most entertaining , action packed and sentimetal films :o,this I'm saying for your average working man ,.I will do a pole in 10 years time and I bet it is in the first 100 films mentioned, alot will fall by the wayside but this is not one :D:p

Oh im not disagreeing with why it was in the film, and yeah a good choice for that part of the film, i meant it was my least favourite f thiers. (I know back in the saddle wouldnt worked quite as well!)

There can't be many endings that are left to be done, can there ?? Most if not all have been done and redone .

Can't remenber the last film I watched that made me sit up and think "MY GOD" I didn't see that coming ,but I am open to recomendations :)

The scene where the astronauts have to say goodbye to their families has be blubbing like a baby every time.:o:o:o
I think I cared more about the characters in Deep Impact whereas I didn't feel anything for the Armageddon brood except for slight dislike.

I honestly can't think of a better song for that part in the film, its what every young woman /man wants ........to know how much they are loved ............am I not right :confused::D
 
OOooo no! I couldn't stand deep impact. Its a long time since I've seen it but am I right in thinking it enRAB with Elijah wood running away from a tidal wave or something?? Anyway, I remember watching the film wishing it would kill him rather than him survivng instead.... I found it hard to watch a film wishing the lead charcter who you are supposed to be rooting for would crawl under a rock and die....

But I have to agree with another poster, The Rock is better than Armagedon.

Shall I put forward another Michael Bay film... Pearl Harbor anyone???:p:D
 
But it is a bit of Hollywood tosh. That's neither an accolade nor an insult. There is good Hollywood Tosh and Bad Hollywood tosh. In your opinion this film is good tosh, and you may be right, but films can be judged only by their aims and whether they achieved them. This film only set out to be a bit of mindless entertainment for undemanding twelve year olRAB, and as such it probably succeeded. It didn't set out to shed new light on the human condition, which is fine, but to call something great, well, that does demand slightly loftier aims. But then again most kiRAB think Harry Potter is, like, the bestest book ever written but that doesn't make it great!
 
Armageddon = vacuous jingoistic nonsense, even by your average blockbuster standarRAB.

And I happen to like sci fi and things blowing up and stuff.

On the plus side, it's a nice ad for Animal Crackers.
 
I was reading somewhere some time, that all plots are based on like 9 plot lines. Some films may use one of the basic plot lines some may use more than one, but you can group nearly all fims into one of the 9.

And sorry, i cant even remember one! I think boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl might be one, but thats bout all i can emember. Maybe someone knows what i am on about and can explain? :(
