I have rather furry arms (male) and whenever I wear a long sleeve shirt for an extended period of time after not wearing one for a while, I start noticing my arm hair ACHES. Like my skin is sore. I have the feeling that it aches at each hair follicle. I think it's because the sleeves are bending the hair unnaturally for a period of multiple hours causing it to hurt. I want an answer.
I suspect you are right. I think that thicker hair resists being pushed in the "wrong" direction more than finer hair does. It pulls the pores the wrong way. Perhaps you might consider shaving your arms? I think that swimmers and bicyclists shave arms and/or legs -- you could tell everyone you're "in training" for some great athletic event.
