I live in Russellville, AR. I was driving to my job this morning... On my drive there is a big curve ("Tech curve") that has no roads or pull offs on it... There was a cop standing in the middle of this curve with a radar gun clocking people and calling them in to other officers to pull over. I was speeding (50 in a 35, apparently - according to radar) to get around all the cars so I could be in the right lane at the end of the curve (because it's difficult to get into that lane sometimes) where I had to turn off and after I'd passed the cars and gotten over I didn't slam on my brakes to slow down I just let my foot off of the accelerator... I turned on my road at the end of the curve and a cop was there pulling me over... Do I have a chance at getting this ticket thrown out if I contest it? I was only speeding so I could pass the cars and get into the right lane...

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Not a chance.

I've heard the same thing from people who said "I was only going 77 in a 50 because I was passing another car"...

There are no exceptions on speed limits. If it said 35, the top speed under ANY conditions is 35.... period.

Think about defensive driving.... might save you some $$$$

sorry to say. but instead of hauling butt to get infront. you should of let your foot off of the gas, and slowed down and switched lanes after the other cars went by. that what they will tell you

with something like that, you best chances for any kind of break are with the police officer. because once that ticket is wrote, that is pretty much final.

No.

Having a reason to break the law is still breaking the law.

If you admit to speeding in court, then you will be convicted.
