Argue for or against the separation of church and state?

I have to write a short essay (300 words) arguing for or against the separation of church and state but I'm really torn on the topic. I'm leaning more towards being for it but I need some more ideas.

the seperation of a state or church is never a good thing(unless its polygamy)

Against. Why? Because that's what the Founding Fathers wanted. Nowhere in the Constitution is "separation of church and state" written. Also, this is quite interesting:

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

I think most people would only be for it if the church that was connected to the state was their church.

Pretend that it's a religion that says you should be second class, not one where you would be one of the elect.

Against. Look for it in the constitution, it isn't there. The original authors of the constitution wanted to keep the government out of our churches, not the other way around.
