ARGH! N78 NO Internet Call option!

Wirelessly posted (Nokia N95-3: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95_8GB-3/31.2.007; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

if i were you i would for sure return and clearly mention my reason so that it gets to nokia ears. You can always buy it later, assured it will be at lower price

The N78 does native voip just like all s60fp2 phones. You have to go to nokia then install the Advanced VOIP settings client. This is the second half of the voip setup and is missing from early s60fp2 releases. It makes a much more capable voip setup than prior s60 releases (say the n95, etc)

Did you try this or you just assuming cause it works on n85? It works on my n85 too but no dice on my wifes n78 cause fp2 native sip needs 3 parts. The one you neglected to mention is net settings app normaly located in connectivity folder on fp2 phones.

The work around here IMO is to just keep your trusty N95 around and use it to make VOIP calls in offline mode. From what I can tell, the Advanced VOIP settings client may or may not work for the N78, but not for the 5800 or the upcoming N97..what a bummer-my speculation is pressure from the operators and maybe Skype as well, due to the partnership with Nokia

Borens is incorrect, the N78 does not have the VOIP client installed, nor can it be installed later, as per Nokia developer discussion forum http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/forum/showthread.php?p=595033

No one can substantiate any claim of installing native Nokia VOIP client on n78.

The N78 can setup SIP registrations, for use by carrier or ISP special products, but its of no use for native Nokia VOIP callss.

The native Nokia VOIP client has been purposely omitted on the N78. You can make use of SIP with a third party VOIP client.
