Are you good at writing poetry? Please help me, if so!?

Okay, so I have a project in English where I am supposed to write a 12 to 20 line lyric poem about myself. I am good at writing poetry, but a lyric poem doesn't tell a story and I have never made a poem about myself. It is usually like a Shel Silverstein poem or a deep poem about friendship or what is happening to the world. Can you please write a lyric poem about yourself so I can get an idea on what to write? I promise I won't take credit, i just need some inspiration, you know?

Hi Kat.

Don't get snagged by definitions. "Lyric" simply means "Set to music." The exact translation is, "with lyre accompaniment."

There are many different kinds. The sonnet and ballad are both easy to write.

If I am a poet,
a real understander or words,
then when will I show it,
how soon will my stories be heard?

My rhyme scheme here is ABAB, and the syllable count is 6,8,6,8, a loose interpretation of the ballad. They can go 7,8,8,7...6.9,6,9...there's lots of ways to slice it.

I dont have one of myself. but i do have advise to you. not all poems have to rhyme... unless its part of the rubric. Just let the ideas flow. write on a piece of paper then try to make something of that. I hope this helped. ^^
