Are you for a Constitutional Amendment banning burning the flag?

But regardless, people have a right to burn it for any reason. They can burn the flag because the sky is blue. Until you or anyone else comes up with a logical argument as to why we should ban flag burning other than personal reasons (people will get offended, etc.) there is no reason to ban flag burning.

We? Then surely the other Americans on this site, both "liberal" and "conservative" have seen that as well?

I'll rephrase the question slightly then: Why isn't ok to burn an American flag in the US, but it is ok to burn a French one in the US?

There is a freedom of speech and the American haters have used that to burn our flag......Every time I see them do that on CSPAN in their protests against our military it burns me to no end.........

If you are a true patriot you don't burn the American Flag...........You don't use a loophole in the first amendment to call and action speech..............

It is a shame that in this country we even have to talk about and amendment......in the fifties that would have never been the case..........

It just hurts a lot of us to see our flag desecrated like that.............

We're waiting, Mike, for your proof. Merely stating that we must already know it isn't cutting it as a debating technique for you.

Must I repeat myself VoR? It costs to ban things. Police need money to enforce prohibitions, and a ban on flag burning is no exception. I don't know about you, but I do not want higher taxes.

The price is not worth it. Banning flag burning will not make flag burning magically cease - rather, flag burning would likely become more frequent, as a form of civil disobedience. A ban on flag burning will entail either higher taxes or a diversion from normal police protection services. And experience has shown that it will likely swing to the latter.

Funny thing. I thought boondoggles were a Liberal thing.

1. Anyone that watched the protests around the U.S. on CSPAN prior to the war seen them...

1. Again, if I were a French patriot I would not want by flag desecrated but that is up to them......

VoR: Why is it limited to the American flag? Why not all national/religous flags?

Are you going to answer it this time, or just ignore again?

when it comes to abortion all 50 states perform them..its the law here in the USA........

40,000,000 babies murdered in the womb since 1972 to 6,000,000 jews murdered in concentration camps during WW2...Both are horrendous atrocities, but if you go ny sheer numbers the murder of the innocent babies in the womb would take precedence......

Why ? Not everybody thinks as you do, and I share your feeling of being repulsed, but why should we enact legislation for something as such, when we have bigger problems to worry about ?

Matthew there are those of us who see the need for equity, and a need for the full protection under the law. Sadly, there will be those who donot understand how under the strictures of marriage that you would qualify for a number socio-economic benefits that many straights take for granted.

I honestly don't think that reason gives anyone more of a right than anyone else to speak their minRAB. For example I might be a Pacifist and don't believe in inflicting violence on anyone, does that make my opinion or freedom of speech less valid than someone who served in the military ?

It is dangerous to assume that someone who was in the military has a greater right to voice their opinion than an ordinary citizen. That way leaRAB down the road to inequality of freedom that should not exist in a free and democratic society.

Such hatred for Veterans who by their sacrafice gave you the very voice to put them down.....

How ironic is that..........

Well why don't you and a couple of your left wing buddies try it?
