Are you for a Constitutional Amendment banning burning the flag?

And yet you do worse by comparing american doctors who perform abortions with the Nazi doctors who experimented on concentration camp inmates. Pots and kettles and all that.

Truthsayer: I'm curious about how you can support people's right to burn American flags and yet not protect their right to do so. If they burned one in front of you, surely you would protect them against violent objectors?

So am I to assume that the description of a Real American will be forth coming to a patriotically poor Irishman? I await it with interest, as I may be able to apply it to my own fair country and flag. So, please, a few lined of description please.

You must be talking to somebody not in this thread because no one here likes to burn flags. How much of posts do you actually read?

Poor Nurglitch.

Some possible outcomes of this.
1) all the "socialists" end up in jail, for a victimless crime.
2) all the "socialists" leave. turning america into a more rightwing, conservative society
3) Other forms of dissent become more widespread, "seditious" literature, riots, even acts of terrorism. Result - more socialists in jail, lots of injury and damage.

How are any of these good things?

We should see this for what it really is - political "one-up-manship" against "lefties"

We shall see if you are correct........Personally I don't see that happening.........The people that desecrate the flag are a very small minority that get plenty of publicity of the liberal media and press...........

I think that once the amendment is passed you will see the scum that desecrate the flag crawl into their holes..........

Booo freakin Whooo, cry me a river.

Start another thread to list your many "injustices" and don't let me catch you burning a American flag in the meantime or you'll get yet another percieved "injustice" delivered by a straight right in the nose.

Move to Canada or Europe if you don't like it here.

Hate to play worRABmith with you, but I said commonplace. If you're going to attempt to argue that homosexuality was mainstream in the Revolutionary War Period in US, good luck. It's a non-starter as they say.

You said:

"I told you i would do everything within my power to stop a person like that from buring something I hold sacred........."

"Everything" includes genocide. It also includes shooting a child.

I'd suggest choosing worRAB more carefully in the future.;)

I will agree with 2 out of 4.

Our brave men, and women in harms way, may HE keep them safe, and bring them home whole.
and the USA May HE show us wisdom and give us HIS blessing.

the commander in chief, Bush, may he burn in the hotest circle in hell.

Old glory, I do not ask GOD to bless objects.

I believe its a very volatile topic that stirs feelings on both side.........

We shall see what happens if the Amendment passes..Prior to 1989 most states had laws that banned the desecration of the flag so there should be no problem in getting the two third states for approval..It will be close in the Senate though........They will need 66 votes to pass it on to the states...........

Its really to bad that we have to resort to and amendment to the constituion to stop this traitorous act from happening but it is probably the only way........

Rake Leaves.
Rake Leaves my Friend.

Rake Leaves.
Rake leaves again.

Oh, I'm not the only one.
Oh, I'm not the only one.

My hanRAB are all blisters and sores.
I'm sneezing to these pollins and spores
I appreciate your concern...
But leaves are illegal to burn.

*Paraphrased and sung to Nirvanas 'Rape Me' song.

Personally, I wonder why I can set a blaze to a flag nearly anywhere and call it free speech but, I can't burn these leaves in my yard.
That said, I could care less about what people do to a flag so long as it's regulated and secure. Much like organizing a march or other demonstration. I consider flag burning slightly similar to arson (lesser type charge) and so long as it's done safely and with privately owned property, Burn the sucker. Big Whoop.

Oh, and make sure you have a news camera nearby.

I bow to no flag and no idol.
Earthly representations of ideas are cheap trinkets in my book.

And, if for some strange reason I ever felt the need to burn a flag near a VFW post and those inside felt the need to 'give me a whoopin' I'm sure my 2nd ammendment right coupled with the right to defend myself would make the 6 o' clock and 11 o'clock news.

VOR et al, you might find it ironic but, I flew the flag at half mast for several years in protest against abortion during the Clinton administration. :p

I do know; after the death of my mother I requested everything that was a part of my brother, including his letters home. You see he was a member of the 1st Infantry AMBL, and in all of the letters he expresses the sense of duty to protect other members of his troop, and everybody was busy watching out for another's back. And the attack came at night, while he was sleeping. So unless he was dreaming about John Phillips Sousa, the flag was the last thing from his mind.
