Are you for a Constitutional Amendment banning burning the flag?

Am I for a whimiscal ammendement that violates the first ammendemnet by restricting freedom of expression?

No. Last time I checked we don't ban things merely because we base it on irrational fears, but then again...

He can deny it but his posts tell the truth........He is for revolution and overthrow of this democracy.........

I think you make it perfectly clear my friend............When I watch the left wingers burn the flag at their "hate the U.S. protests" it infuriates me.If I was there I would definitely let them feel the size of my size 12 boot on their butt.........

Cool - nothing like constitutional sanction with which to quash dissidents.

After all, if desecrating the flag is traitorous activity, you can round up all the traitors and execute them.

It should be easy enough. After all, traitors are like terrorists. :)

PHP:
Even Senator Diane Feinstein one of the biggest liberals in the senate said she has found no evidence that the Patriot Act has harmed any American.....You can whine about it all day but the undenialable fact is we have not had a terroirst attack on this country in almost 4 years.....That is not just luck......

VoR I can't let you take her comments out of context:

She said that the comments were very old and made before new allegations came out, ones that looked more credible, and they are still viewing them.

Also VoR... let us look at the terrorists attacks on american soil: WTC 92, millennium bombings (failed) 99, WTC 01. This suggests that they can wait years between attacks, choosing instead to wait to the right time. It says nothing about how Bush has done. Indeed the only president to successfully stave off a known attack was Clinton. But will you give him credit for it? I doubt it.

Now, you said that my definition was a good one for being an American Patriot, and standing up for the ideals of the Constitution. Well... is an ideal of the constitution freedom of speech?

We don't need an amendment....just some judges that don't believe in a consitution. That way they can use the good ol' "evolving standarRAB of deceny" to decide this issue

I am writing this with the preconception that this administration is traitorous.
They are taking our rights comparativly as did the Nazi Party in its response to a terrorist act. They are waging war on ALL the classess that fall below Upper Class. If they do add that ammendment they are doing so as to change the constituion and not to protect the flag from being burned. When they make ammendments it allows them to put ANY thing in the constitution.
The real goal of this ammendment is to allow them to sidestep and change the original constitution. If you believe this is not a problem and that the administration cares more about terrorism than your rights your misled fooled and ignorant. The terrorists and the wars where CREATED in order to take your rights. America neeRAB God. Just not Dubyas god.

I disagree. The flag isn't just a piece of cloth. It is a symbol of all that is American. If you don't think so, watch the flag ceremony at the opening of the Olympics or the presentation of medals ceremonies. That's not JUST a piece of striped cloth with a few stars on it. It HAS meaning for us.

The more I think about the issue, the more I'm convinced that there shouldn't be an amendment banning flag burning. Someone mentioned, a while back, that the amendment would amount to idolatry
1 : the worship of a physical object as a god
2 : immoderate attachment or devotion to something

Looking at the issue from that standpoint, even if I was in favor of an amendment before (which I wasn't), I couldn't, in good conscience, support an amendment that 1. establishes a false secular god and 2. Violates my belief in the Ten Commandments. This is what would occur, IMO, if the flag was elevated to the status of "sacred" and desecration was punishable by fine or inprisonment.

Modern_Republic

I wish you the very best in your ROTC program, and should you be sent overseas, and into battle, please know you go with my prayers that you are safe at all times. Your service to this country, I'm sure will prove to be invaluable.

Yeah, there is no danger with terrorism  ..........I guess you lefties don't consider the 2 attacks on the WTC as attacks against this country.............You probably believe like the big lefty Ward Churchill that the people that dies there were nothing but a bunch of nazis........

There are a few WW2 vets still around in those organizations and if they can't handle the butt kicking aspects then Vietnam Vets and Gulf war Vets would be glad to assist them if they saw lefties burning the flag..Make no mistake about that.........

Then you sir have violated the fisrt comandment, also Jesus's command to his followers in KJV mark 13:30,31 for if you trully love the lord with all your heart then there is NO room in your heart for your false GOD of the flag and you would view it as just a piece of cloth. See I do get it I understand that if you are a true believer then all worldly things, objects, are just that. How does the flag glorify GOD. If you can't answer that and you are willing to die for a piece of cloth then it is your false GOD.

You would have to be a very trashy person to want to burn the American flag. An American who would burn the flag should be deported to a country of their choosing, that is if they could find a country to take them in. Wait a minute..........France or Canada would love to have more liberals.

And you, as a navy shopkeeper, has some kind of insight into what goes through the minRAB of combat vets?

George is right. You get out there and bullets start flying, and your primary concern is to kill the enemy so you can go home, and not get killed yourself. Let the REMFs worry about spouting idiotic garbage about "fighting for old glory".
