Are YOU an "animation snob"?

Are YOU an "animation snob"?

Once you have seen about three episodes of Pok?mon it becomes one of the least confusing shows imaginable because you realize that every darn episode goes:

The main group of kids meets a new freind (in about 90% of the time, it's a young girl), who does something with Pok?mon (dance with Pok?mon/bungy-jump with Pok?mon/play football with Pok?mon/work in the community council with Pok?mon/whatever with Pok?mon) but has some kind of problem with one of her Pok?mon (said Pok?mon is to grumpy/irresponsible/handicapped/addicted to meth/whatever). Then Team Rocket (the villains) shows up to deliver bad puns and try to steal Pikachu, after which the Pok?mon that had some kind of problem overcomes his problem, saves Pikcahu, and kick Team Rockets asses along with the aid of Pikachu. Then it ends with everybody standing around, looking at each other and smiling, and the narrator sayong something like "it looks like our heroes have made a new friend today".

And said friend never, ever appears or is even mentioned again.

There, a better example.
And try not to put logic into this series. Its a fantasy show. Thats like putting logic into the Flintstones. Or Tom and Jerry.
Its all about enjoying the ride. If its good I mean.

The weird little purple kid, right? I'm not confusing it with the cartoon Campbell's soup commercials, am I?Uh, yes. But then again I'm confused by Japanese children always sticking their fingers up each other's butt as a prank. Some things are simply lost in translation. I guess you had to be there.
I've probably seen more than a dozen episodes of the show (it not all of them all the way through) if I leave the channel on Cartoon Network in the other room and am too lazy to change it. I still don't understand WHY all of these little monsters have so many genetic defects to overcome (crystal meth is CLASSIC!:D) or why exactly I should care.

To be fair, I think part of the confusion adults have in regards to Pokemon is based solely on the trading cards and the universe jargon. The actual show, as has been pointed out, isn't really that hard to follow from a conceptual standpoint.

I wouldn't say it took itself that seriously. It may have been set in a dystopia future but it was still quite comical most of the time and the action was more slapstick and over-the-top than serious. Aku also felt more like a parody of evil rather than an actual personification of one.

I'll agree with that it's further along than the other, though I still stand by my statement Samurai Jack is simply above-average at best in the art department. I'd take it over styles like My Gym Partner is a Monkey or Jimmy Two-Shoes, but there's also plenty of shows that out-do it; even at the time it was airing.

While that is a kind of formula that many of the episodes follow, not every Pokemon episode is the same. It isn't like once you've seen one episode of the series you've seen them on. Plus, the writers have been doing some different things since Advance Generation.

That's true. I can understand some confusion about the show considering that there are over four hundred Pokemon thus far. Though, I don't think that you need to be familiar with the trading cards to understand the show. The video games would most likely be a better way to reduce confusion since many of the events in the games show up in the series. Still, I agree that the actual show isn't that complicated. Considering that it's been going on for so long, it helps that it's fairly easy to understand and get into for the new generation of kids.

Anyway, I'm not really that picky about the cartoons I watch. While some art designs may seem weird to me at first, I would still give the series or movie a chance by actually watching it before making a judgment like that. I try to put more focus on if I'm enjoy the story and the characters in the animated movies and series that I watch.

Wait, you're saying you refuse to watch anime if it isn't edited and dubbed in English? You don't like unaltered Japanese versions?

As a massive Japanese giant monster fan who prefers the original Japanese versions over the Americanized ones that baffles the heck out of me. :p
