Are you always inclined to "debate the issue of God" or "discuss the issue of God"?

Really Now?

Is it impossible for you to do one or the other, if so why? Can you the "discuss the issue of God" without having it turn into a "debate of the issue of God"? Why or why not, what does it take? Is it possible for the "debate of the issue of God" to turn into a "discussion of the issue of God"? If so does that means that the debater who is now the one who is willing to discuss, is now converted, or has just given up? Please explain.
"Woah, your thinking way too hard, religion is meant to be funny!"

atheist?
No, not pychic it is all in your statement.
Neil:
Why should I? Are you asking me to tell you what YOU are willing to discuss or debate? That is personal and is based on an individual basis, you are asking me to tell you how to think.
What alternative perspective can an atheist have about the issue of God? To them there is no God, so the context of a discussion about God will not be about God. So what perspective are you talking about ? Either way, both sides are still denying or refusing to accept the other sides perspective. The atheist, refuses to see the perspective of God; and the theists refuses to see the perspective of no God. To say that only theists do this is pointing a hypocritical finger.

I find that the debate of the existence of a creator is not one that can be proven nor dis proven. I do however find that the issue of which a system of belief can be debated and dis proven.

Woah, your thinking way too hard, religion is meant to be funny!

EDIT: Wooahhhh, howd you guess! You must be psychic or something! Cool!!

I would rather have a discussion than a debate, although debates can be fun too if people follow some rules.

The problem is that a lot of people who believe in God feel it's their duty to promulgate their own particular beliefs. I would rather toss ideas back and forth, each person trying on the other's ideas for size, seriously considering them. That's how your learn. But for some people, talking about God is not an intellectual exercise but missionary work. They are here to tell you. They aren't interested in alternative perspectives.

For instance, when a Jehovah's Witness comes to your door, have you ever said "Well here's what I think . . . " and watched their reaction? 8^)

It depends on why your talking about God. If you are talking with another Christian about something in the Bible, you are discussing it. But If someone says to you, "Evolution is truth" and you try and prove to that person that it isn't, and bring God into the equation, than your are debating it.

I only "debate" the "issue of God" on this forum. In real life I don't entertain religious vomit spewing from the mouths of those who insist on spreading their "good news" to me, a godless soul (to them). They're wasting their time and mine.

No, sometimes I just move on to another question. I hate answering the same one for the tenth time in the same day. That said, I would rather discuss than debate.
