I guess it could be seen in that way; though the whole thing is foolish.
We are having a clash mostly because the two religions are very similar, but no one on either side is bothering to find out about the beliefs of the other so they can figure that out.
This will be a severe oversimplification of the beliefs, but it gets across the point.
Judaism begins "in the beginning," when God makes man and eventually woman. Eventually, man and woman go against God by eating forbidden fruit. God then kicks them out of the Garden of Eden, but says that He will eventually provide a way for them to get back.
God sends various prophets throughout the passage of time to lead the Jews and train them in following God. This is more or less where Judaism ends, as they do not believe that way God promised has come yet.
This is where Christianity takes over. They do believe that way and Savior has come, in the form of Jesus. Jesus came, continued the teaching of the situation we're in, but also taught us how He was going to save us, then how things were going to end. But that we could have hope for that end, because God is watching over us. He then died for us.
This is where Islam takes over. They believe in all the prophets of the Jewish faith, as well as Jesus. They just believe that man, throughout time, has since fallen away from the words of Jesus and has misused them. Considering how many times the Bible has been used to back war and oppression and slavery, it's hard to argue with the Muslims on this point.
Jesus was a man of peace, and Christianity a religion of love. Yet the Bible has been used to justify the Inquisition, the Crusades, slavery, every war in Europe since the 4th century and every war in America since it before it became America. That wasn't Jesus' fault, man misused His words.
So Islam believes that God sent Mohammed, not to replace Jesus, not to counter Jesus, not to clarify Jesus, but to repeat and restore what Jesus said; then to provide certain things like the 5 prayers a day so that we would not forget or misuse the words of Jesus again. If anyone tried, we would have meditated and learned those words, and would know what was really said and not let the words be misused.
All three religions are essentially very similar, especially that of Christianity and Islam. But no one knows because we just insist that the other side is evil and can not be salvaged because they don't believe as we do; regardless of how close they actually do.
All three, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are religions of peace and love. They all have their radicals, but they all have their stalwart core of brothers and sisters who would stand by ALL of God's children. But we must all get back to the original teachings of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus, Mohammed, etc., etc., etc.
