Are TV lawyers really legit?

You know the lawyers advertising in commercials really are what they seem? I never thought I would consider using one.

I had a small claims case and basically the defendant lied. I don't think I can appeal the case, but now that I have more evidence, I would like to get what I wanted.

I thought this would most likely go to a different court in which I would need a lawyer. I am wondering if they really "do not collect unless I do." And how much would they take from my potential win?

Any advice is welcomed but I do want to go through with this.

Thanks in advance.

Once a case has been filed in one court - small claims in your case - it cannot (unless it is dismissed without prejudice) be refiled in a different court.

Your options, once you have lost in small claims court, are limited to whatever the appeals process is in your unknown State.

Now, that being said, in "some" States the process for an appeal from small claims court is a trial de novo in county court.
