They are good little cars. I would also take a hard look at a Ford Escape. Ford and Toyota have been rated the same in reliability for the last few years. Fuel economy is about the same and the Ford has more interior space. The Escape and RAV4 are about the same price but when parts wear out a Ford is a lot less expensive to maintain and repair. If most of your driving is in the city the hybrid Escape will save some fuel, highway mileage is about the same as the regular version. But the $10,000 price difference probably isn't worth paying. You would have to save a lot of fuel to recover that much money. I also support buying American products when the quality and price are similar. It's better for the American economy. I am not suggesting that anyone settle for less just for the sake of buying American.
