Are they setting us up? TMNT DTV Movie..

I'm curious... Ever notice how now more than ever the New Turtles are acting ALLOT like the old Turtles? We've had the first resurgence of the phrase 'Shred-head' since 1993, for instance. There are more dudes and slang phrases coming out of Michelangelo than in the entire first 3 seasons of the show... and one or two other little clues....INCLUDING the Technodrome being snuck in the first episode of Fast Forward, albiet as a Silhouette..

All this points too a crossover with the old show and the new show for the DTV movie.

And there are plenty of Great jokes, to be had, too. For instance, the 2k3 Turtles trying to slice off 1987 Shredders head, only to find out he's human when they nick him :). And their confusion with Krang and SHredder being two different people :).

Old Baxter meeting new Baxter would be a hoot too, but I suspect that they'll keep it limited to the core characters and villains if it happens that way.

I REALLY hope we aren't wrong about this :).

There is suppose to be some TMNT DTV movie that will come out on DVD and will also air on CW4kids in the Spring.

We don't really know what its about, but its suppose to coincide with the 25th anniversary.

Too bad Leatherhead is too much of a minor character in the old show. 2K3 Leatherhead's reaction to his counterpart would be great.

And of course, another more recent observation:

Did anyone not notice that April in anime style reporter from Channel 6 in the yellow outfit? The episode with all the mutated cyber animals...

It's either fans putting together clues to a puzzle that doesn't exist, or they are trying to prepare fans of the new show for how the characters of the old show acted: )..

Every time I mention here that the newer series should include elements of the old show people tell me, "That's not going to happen. It's not happening. They don't want to do that. They'll never do that"...

So why would they suddenly do it now?

yep, form what I've heard, it's ONLY a 3 episode DTV movie.

And my guess is they want to celebrate every aspect of Turtles in it's original form. We're getting a finale to the Archie Comic Series, for instance and most folks thought that would never happen, either.

It seems only appropriate for them to bring back the most popular version of the turtles, even for only 3 eps....

Stop me if you've heard this: That's not going to happen. :p

1. This may (or may not) be TMNT's last season on CW4Kids. And also...

2. Peter Laird didn't care much for the 1987 syndicated series, and now that he finally got the chance to do the TMNT series the way that he wanted, I very much doubt that he would ever want to convert it the campy '87 series.

3. Laird and 4Kids don't own the characters Bebop, Rocksteady or Krang, as they were created especially for the syndicated Ninja Turtles series, which was produced by Murakami/Wolf Productions.

Sorry, Shredder565, but all of that is merely speculation (or wishful thinking) on your part.

OK :)

Regards to 2: I can't remember if I saw this on Peters Official blog, but I'm 99.5% certain that HE was the one who inserted a Bebop like Alien, had Gen where Rocksteady like Clothing, had an Utrom named Krang, and approved of 'April dressing up as a reporter from Channel 6' in the new show, so he can't hate it all that much  He certainly could have used his VETO power of all that stuff appearing in the new show if he'd wanted :).

It is true that they can't post any images of the classic series on their website, but I'm almost certain that MWS isn't against then otion of making new cash off of old properties. My guess is it wouldn't be that tough to covince them. Plus, I don't think it's ever been cleared up on who OWNS the characters, not rights to publish them. Krang has shown up in the Mirage comic, as well as the Turtle Blimp via a Turtle Soup issue, for instance. Kevin Eastman created the design for 1987 April.....etc.
And Mirage owns all things turtles, so I wonder if MWS could stop them if they wanted to at all....

Personally, I'd rather have a DTV that tells a somewhat serious story which more or less ties into the main series, rather than a comedic crossover with the campy 80's turtles. But that's just me.
