Are they adding scenes to the syndicated episodes of the Simpsons or am I going nuts?

Last Friday's episode of the Simpsons was "Rosebud" which is about Mr. Burns seeking his long lost bear Bobo.

I remember seeing this episode the first time it aired and I have seen it in reruns but last Friday the episode threw me for a loop. In the beginning sequence, they show these signs on Mr. Burns fence, which I vaguely remember. What took me by surprise were the dancers who were signing Oh We Oh and then shushed by Mr. Smithers and who respond by whipsering Oh We Oh and dancing softly.

It is a hilarious sequence and it is one of the elements from the Simpsons that I do not see that often. But for the life of me I do not remember that scene the first time I saw it.

I have heard that for some shows and movies that add scenes for syndication on TV. If this is the case, what other episodes have they added more scenes too?

No, that scene's always been there, both in syndication and on the network airings. You must just be remembering incorrectly.

Yeah. They usually cut out scenes from the syndicated episodes, not add new ones. Like, for example, the pool episode that had a scene with Bart and Lisa hearing an ice cream man shouting outside. When they ran outside, they heard him say "Ice cream! Ice cream! Wish I had some ice cream!" Another driver pulled up saying "Hot chili and ginger ale for sale! Hot chili and ginger ale for sale!" That scene was cut out of syndication and the scene with Otto pulling up in the pool truck came after the ice cream man scene.

Actually, usually many Simpsons episodes have scenes cut for syndication. An example is one of my favorite episodes, Boy Scoutz N The Hood. There are a few scenes cut, such as one where Barney wakes up from his bender aboard a ship, and one of the knife jokes was cut.

Scenes rarely ever get added to episodes. The only example I can think of them adding a scene to an episode of anything was in the Kids Next Door episode Operation R.E.P.O.R.T. they added a part where Numbuh 4 chewed some bubble gum and blew a bubble. The episode had been out for months before they through that in.

Man, i pity American Simpsons fans, i really do. Here in Sweden, the episodes always air the way they did when they originally aired in America, so nothing ever gets cut out.

02-07 i watched Simpsons here in Australia notice no cuts
07-present notice cuts

Thus i conclude channel ten has recently begun cutting to give ads space to breathe

unworthy but true.
