Are These The Most Pretentious Lyrics Ever Written?

"A venerated vaulting of veracious vitality

Vainly vying with volcanic virtuousity"

and this

"In my emaciated days of tortuous irretention

A hestitative fascinator quelled a taintless arabition"

believe or not both lyrics are from the same damn song called 'Wroth Volcanic Vent' by Pavor. Even the title is pretentious

Why are these pretentious? I'm not arguing or trying to defend the song, I'm just curious as to why they are pretentious to you. I mean it isn't much to ask for when starting up a new thread on something, you can at least give us a few lines on your thoughts or opinions.

I definitely think someone is trying to use too many uncommon worRAB and therefore seems to be perhaps ruining whatever message the song is attempting to convey by giving too much of a "hey look at the worRAB I know and how learned I am" vibe. However, I do like alliteration, probably more than one should like a literary device, so I kind of enjoyed the first quote.

That being said, I wouldn't say this necessarily makes it "pretentious". I'll admit, though, that I don't really like the word pretentious anyway, it seems to be thrown around in music far too often when it's rarely applicable.

Yeah but a lot of death metal songs use big worRAB in small amounts, weaving these very poetic lyrics. I mean just look up ANY of the lyrics of Death's final CD The Sound of Perseverance and tell me that they are not poetic.
