Are these fish spawning in our creek?

We have lived near a creek for about 7 years, and we have never seen fish this big....they are all hovering around this bend, that has a deep hole....there is a muskrat or something that keeps going up and down the creek, and going down into what we think is probably a hole.

We have no idea what kind of fish they are, we can only speculate, that they are either trout, salmon, or walleye...

We fish often and we thought we were fairly knowledgeable when it comes to catching fish.......but we have tried many things to catch them, but they aren't interested.

Could that muskrat be keeping them gathered at what seems to be it's hole? There are no other signs of fish anywhere up and down the creek, just that 1 area.

Do you know what could be the situation?
this is in Michigan

There is a good chance that they are carp or some type of sucker. The fact that you describe them as large makes me suspect carp. The behavior you mention, also. You don't say what part of the country you are in, which might help narrow it down.
