Are these connected??

I asked on another board and I am asking here too. Is back pain (low) and nerve pain connected? If so, do the nerves run around the outside of the vaginal area? Does low back pain cause IBS or the other way around? When I walk, I feel this burning/irritation on one side and it feels like its on the outside of the vagina and goes into the buttocks area somewhere, but I do have Irritable bowel and didn't know if the discomfort that I feel is due to a nerve thing or maybe just hair pulling or something down there. I also have a bad pinched nerve in my neck if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for any suggestions!!

A pinched nerve in your neck isn't going to affect your lower back, except that you may carry yourself different enough that you will throw your entire back out of kilter. But low back pain dow not cause IBS. IBS is not related to nerve pain that is caused by your low back pain. Irritable Bowel Syndrome isn't caused by low back pain. I know that it may seem like it because it's in your gut area, and your intestines are involved, but the nerves that are controlled by your lower back aren't related to the issues that come with IBS. They are playing with your intestines all by themself. You need to treat you IBS with meds for that, not nerve pain med as it won't take care of IBS.

Nerve pain is related to pressure being applied to nerves. Which nerves that are being pinched or squeezed will cause that areato be in pain All of your nerves are related to certain areas of your back. The fact that you have a bad pinched nerve in your neck has nothing to do with the pain in your lower back and buttocks. Your neck area actually works with the upper quadrant of your body.

And nerves do run around the vaginal area. Where they are realted in your back I can't say.

I don't know about the neck pain or IBS, but it sounds like your lower back pain that goes to the buttocks might be your sciatic nerve. You have a nerve that starts in your lower back or the upper part of your butt that runs all the way down the back of your thigh and even below your knee. It is one of the longest nerves in the body and it can be quite painful. The last poster was correct when he said that you could be carrying your weight differently due to the pinched nerve in your neck. This could be what is causing your sciatic nerve to act up (if that is what your problem is). Perhaps you can do a little research on the sciatic nerve to see what types of issues people have with this. I don't know your health situation, but if you are overweight at all you wind up having more medical conditions which tend to pop up, including nerve pain, back pain, pinched nerves, IBS, and others. Sometimes if we change our diet to healthier foods that are higher in fiber and get a little exercise we can do a world of good for our bodies.

Just so you know, I am not a doctor; I only know from past, personal experience.

Yes all this is somewhat new to me. No, I am not over weight (thank goodness for that!) But these pains are just that...a pain to figure out. I have learned going to a Dr. and JUST talking to them about a problem, they are very basic and then they run all these tests which really cost and the bad thing is, you may go to the wrong type of Dr. in the first place and then you have to do it all over again! I just try and figure some things out for myself because I know what I feel, the Dr. doesn't so, I am very thankful for these boards because others can give you ideas and maybe think of things that I don't. I do try and exercise and I am eating healthier but its so hard to try and find the right kind of foods to eat. Everyone is different and have different intake needs of certain foods. I think moderation of anything is ok. Maybe I'm all wrong on that. Thanks for your reply!
