Are there really concentration camps in the US?

currently, no, but there have been camps that could fall into that category here in the states in the past.

a lot of people will say gitmo is one, but its not in the US, so doesn't fall into your answer, and its not a camp, its a prison.
during WWII we had several detainee camps across the country where we held many japanese americans against their will, in fear that they were spy's or worse, saboteurs. we also persecuted and detained many german, italian, and Japanese immigrants during that time period.

it was a dark day in our history as a "free" nation under god.
