Are there places to find screencaps of hard to find cartoons?

Don't bother saying "Google it", I have.

On Live Journal and a few other sites, I've pretty much secured all the anime shots I could use. A handful of cartoons I've found websites with good picks to use.

I found these not through Google, but hearing things from others and back tracking links.

But,,,

Hard to find SC's for old shows released on DVD, like Game Over, and new shows like Storm Hawks are hard to find.

So I thought I'd ask. :D

I took a look at VLC, and it appears to only be a cross platform player. Which in itself isn't a bad idea not to have to keep finding codec plugins. But can it actually screencap DVD's on it's own? I believed I need a special card, that I don't seem to have because everytime I tried a screencap of DVD's and most of my vid files, all I get is a black image.

Sure don't, run the DVD through VLC (not WMP or anything else) and somewhere in the options, tools, whatever you can take a screencap.

EDIT: I bet you were trying the Prt-Screen + Copy-paste into Photoshop, right? Yeah, doesn't work. Use the screencap feature on VLC.

You can also use Cyberlink PowerDVD - I use it for all my screencapping needs :p The pictures you capture all go to a folder, so you don't have to print screen or anything.

I don't have PS, but I tried several things like "U Cap it" and nothing seem to work for DVD's.

Wow, Cyberlink is about 50 megs. That would take me a day to download and take way too much hard drive space.

VLC looks better at 9 megs, but I downloaded it and it doesn't seem to have a header file so my system doesn't know how to open it.

That happens whenever you try to Prt+Screen any video, and paste it in any program.

You can't screencap a video that way.

I don't know what to tell you if your computer won't install VLC...?

Media Player Classic makes it very easy to get screenshots from a DVD. Although I did notice it has this annoying tendency to skip back to the last frame at times when you're trying to save the image.

:D Hmm, I got the VLC to load and play dvd. I think it's also taking screen shots, but where does it put them?

 Holy cow it works. I can finally catch all those images I wanted off my DVD's. Just,,, WoW
