Are there hidden history files in the computer? ?

I know about the temporary internet files and any folder that I can visibly see (content IE5). I'm just curious to know if there are any super secret history files, and when I connect a device like an ipod, does it copy these history files to it? I understand how a computer works, but am just wondering. Also, when you backup files, does the computer add files without your knowledge?
 
you were looking at porn werent you?haha well i believe it does i have found such files as those but im not sure
