Are there different laws/rules in india that would make it scarey to travel to?

(eg. women covering their legs or hair, women not travelling alone, women not walking in front of husband or father.)
 
Nothing like that... you can enjoy life in India... a cool place it is. You must see some girls driving mad around here, going to pubs in some cities, smoking, having the time of their lives.
 
No.You can do pretty much what civil society allows you to in the U.S.
Please note that India is not a "Talibanised" country unlike Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
