I think he refering to the uproar that was when the Christmas episode of Pokemon was pulled because the Pokemon; Jynx looked like a blackface character... but in reality they were a parody of the ganguro fad that is supposed to be the "in thing" at the time. I still think it going strong in Japan. To this day, Jynx is in future episodes but instead of black skin, it purple, also they did that in the games as well.
