Are there any laws in California against keeping high school students indoors all day?

I go to school in San Diego and I got in trouble for leaving school early (at 2 as opposed to 3:40) on the last day of school. Since 8:40 in the morning I had been locked in doors literally all day, including lunch, I was not in any sort of trouble, my teacher was just to lazy to let us do anything, so we did nothing. I am not trying to get out of trouble, i've already been punished, I just don't think that that is legal and fell the need to do something about it.

Of course it's legal to keep schoolchildren in school all day, and legal to punish them for skipping out. Shape up. Seven hours out of 24, with a 2 month vacation annually is easy living -- child's play. You aren't ready for the real world of 8-hour-plus workdays and maybe a week of vacation annually.

If you like the outdoors so much, start looking at careers that would allow you to work outdoors: carpenter, forest ranger...

People just take advantage when they get the chance. You can complain and maybe the teacher can get a warning or something but its not illegal or anything sadly.
