Are there ANY Hollywood stars who haven't battled addiction/illness?

With the news of Heath Ledger's death and all the questions surrounding it, I was pondering the above question. He obviously had certain personal issues and there are suggestions that his death was drug related.

Are there any major Hollywood stars who haven't battled with addiction, mental illness, weight problems or otherwise f*cked up personal lives?

It's a bit of a facetious question, I'm sure there are some who lead perfectly "normal" lives. But just about every major star I can think of off the top of my head has had some form of issue in their personal lives that requires therapy or that gets dragged through the media (or both).

I wondered what people's opinions on the causes of this were? Are such problems caused by pressures of fame? Is it the public? The paparrazzi? Or would they suffer such problems even if they weren't mega-stars?

The only ones that have stayed fairly well grounded is the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger,Michael Caine,George Clooney etc (the ones who got famous after the age of 30).

I guess it's a case of too much, too young in many cases.

I think it's pretty much as case of: youth + collosal amounts of money + pressure + lots of spare time = trouble of some sort.

But let's not make assumptions about Mr Ledger until the autopsy, eh?

Reese Witherspoon, Kirsten Dunst, Cate Blachett, Julianne Moore, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Winslet, Morgan Freeman, Joaquin Phoenix, Densel Washington, Will Smith, Keanu Reeves, to name a few.
I think there are plenty who are 'normal'

Is madness a sign of being grounded?[/QUOTE]

Oh yeahhh:rolleyes: really grounded!

They are actors, since when have actors been grounded?

anyone who has the need to say "look at me pretending to be someone else and I believe it so should you" has got to be emotionally needy

No...

He's had drink and drug problems in the past. Few problems with arrests as well. ;) He's left all of that behind him now though.

I think it helps to live outside of the Hollywood bubble. Since Johnny moved to France his life has been trouble-free. Other actors such as Eric Bana (who still lives in Oz) and Gael Garcia Bernal (who still lives in Mexico) have had no known troubles either.

I'm not so sure he ever had any issues with drugs. He used to party pretty hard, and would occasionally get drunk - but again that too wasn't to a degree that would call it a "problem" (no more so than a decent amount of the the UK males on a Saturday night). Depp's only real issue was his temper - he had a seriously short fuse. But as you say, France and fatherhood seem to have sorted that.
