...studies/research/investigation? Please don't get me wrong. By paranormal I do not mean only phenomena such as ghosts or spirits, which implies me seeking a career in "ghost hunting". By paranormal, I mean anything out of the normal range of experience or scientific explanation. That would include phenomena found in folklore, urban legends, mythology, and the like.
If you know of ANY good universities in the U.S. that offer degrees in paranormal, occult, or supernatural studies, please let me know. It would help a lot. Thank ya :)))
And by the way people, I DON'T watch very much Ghost Whisperer. In fact, I've always thought that show is kinda lame and not very well thought out :/... If you think I should seek a "better", and more boring career, you really don't have to waste your time and answer this question.
 
I think what you are talking about is a degree in parapsychology. These degrees are offered at some schools, but they are not accredited universities. There is really no point in going to a school that isn't accredited. However, most people who study paranormal activity go to school for more conventional subjects like physics, medicine, psychology, anthropology etc. They then typically do a dissertation on a parapsychology subject that is related to their field of study.
 
I have an undergrad degree and masters in folklore. There are a few schools that over undergrad courses in folklore and 8 universities that offer graduate degrees in folklore. This sort of thing you mentioned is not the only thing covered in these degrees but it is one of them. There is no such thing as a degree in paranormal, occult, or supernatural studies. BUT when I did folklore, i took classes in mythology, and urban legends. Cryptozoology is another related field. My senior project was on the ghost legends of a particular haunted hotel. There is no degree that actually studies ghosts or the paranormal as it applies to possibly existing, but there are degrees in folklore that would allow you to study ghost stories, urban legends, and supernatural legends.
