...published authors? i want to write, and i do have a talent for it (according to my english teachers for the past several years and 3 published adult authors), but i don't know if i should because i wouldn't want to write something then send it off to agents or publishers and have it thrown back in my face a million times (and i know that's whats happend to some authors, and its likely to happen to me). i don't know if i'd be told i'm too young, that i should come back in a few years when i'm 18, or what ever. any thoughts?

There's no point in not trying, but first you have to write something to actually be published. The novel I'm working on now, I started for my own enjoyment but after a few people read the first parts of it, they all told me I should try and get it published when I'm done. They don't need to know your age. Also, if you know published authors, then have them send it in for you with a note saying that they think you have a talent for writing, will the publisher and editor please read your manuscript. Lucky - you're farther along than I am in that respect.

In Elementary School, two of my class mates had a children's book published. So, it's not impossible. I recommend just doing it. Send your books everywhere. Some will reject you, that's a fact of life. Keep trying, if you feel that maybe in a few years your work will be better, wait. You could also make a copy of the book, with a nicer cover, and give it to a local library. If people are interested in reading your book, you have the advantage of appeal.
