swine flu? Are there 2 different tests for the flu now? one for the regular flu and one for the swine flu?
i took my son to the doctor today and he has been running a temp from 99.5 to nearly 103 since monday. they did a flu test on him and said it was negative, and gave me some antibitoics to knock out any possible bacterial infections. he fell asleep so he hasnt had a dose of it yet but now my daughter is running a temp of 102...so is it possible that he has the flu. Did they just test him for the normal flu and maybe he has the swine flu? or would it show up with a regular flu test?

Yes. The regular yearly flu shot is now available. However, the swine flu vaccine is not available yet, but will be soon to everyone.

As for your kids, this has to be so scary. Rest assured that they are in good hands. The doctors know what to look for as far as the swine flu is concerned. If your daughter's temperature goes to 102.5+ take her to the doctor too.

Don't be afraid to ask the doctor these questions! That's what they're paid to do, so don't be intimidated by them. Be assertive. You deserve their time. Ask away! Best of luck! =)
