Are the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan actually a religious crusade?

Judeo/Christian against Islamic?

And don't try to say I'm wrong because Obama has Muslim roots, look at the culture of the people we're actually killing.

Good answer, but we're not fighting BinLaden. We can't kill anyone connected to the Saudi Royal Family.

Clearly, you don't seem to understand that both wars were started LONG before Obama ever became a candidate for President.

When Bush used religious language in his run up to war, many Muslims and people of all faiths questioned his statements. When he hired the uber-Christian Blackwater to fight our battles, it was even more disturbing, as their President has repeatedly used religious wording to describe the war. When Bush's general said that we were fighting for Christianity, it was yet more evidence that some people want to believe that we are battling Islam, instead of terrorists.

Yes.

There's an author, the name escapes me, but he wrote a book exposing the mercenary group, Black Water, who has been paid millions to provide "security" in Iraq. Black Water's leader is a staunch Evangelical and - because their not affiliated with the military - have been actively trying to convert Muslims. Writing bible verses on the side of their humvees and offering rewards for those who reject Islam.

While their not part of the US military, they are hired by them which means that the Generals and Commanders in charge over there don't necessarily disagree with Black Water and their questionable tactics.

Edit: Spike beat me to it!

I wouldn't push it that far. The reason we got IN there in the first place is because of 9.11.01. And besides that, we're only fighting a certain group of Islams. There are Islams ALL over the world, and they're generally good people. We're just fighting the ones that embarrased our country and killed our people. And hey, if bin Laden was Christian, well, we would be fighting against him anyway. So I wouldnt say it's a religious crusade. Interesting question, though.

for Eric Prince, the head of Blackwater, it actually is a religious crusade

its mostly the fundygelicals like eric prince who see it as a crusade

Bush attempted to make it appear so. There were even religious quotes on daily Pentagon briefings for some time. Bush even went so far as to speak to religious groups often, saying he has 'Spoken to god', and 'on a mission for god'.

As mentioned by "?", blackwaters owner is also the same way - going so far as to hire guns with strong religious beliefs.

Remember, when we created and funded Al Queda in the 80s, we learned that the result was a fierce warrior. Our own politicians wish to use even a slight bit of that same motivator in their own killers for hire.

Make a hired gun believe his killing is for god, and anything he would otherwise question becomes accepted as a religious complexity he is not meant to understand.

No. This situation has a religious element but it is mostly about power, getting and hanging on to it. A lot of people claim to be religious but look at what they do! Doubtful. There are lots of ways of looking at it, like modern/capitalist vs. medieval/tribal. Or a violent confrontation between two versions of "stability".
With luck we should see some dramatic improvement in the situation over the next 5-10 years. Aaa-rgh! I hate this. No matter who you are reading this: Try to make a positive difference in the world.

Yes. Don't listen to yahoo tards to tell you what is the truth, and what is real, half of them have never seen past the news.

You are a bit confused. Islam has been at war with us for many decades. We just didn't realize how Jihad worked.

My family fled Islam before I was born. You have no idea what we are facing.
