They are suggesting stopping the building of an aircraft carrier at Rosyth, the type 42 ships at Govan, the closure of RAF Lossiemouth in addition to many thousands of public workers jobs.
A figure of 60,000 is suggested. Well I am no Albert Einstein but surely to put all these jobs at risk would result in even more money being paid in redundancy and unemployment pay, as well as cancellation payments to the contractors for work already done and compensation for loss of projected work. Also, what about the loss of spending power that these 60,000 people would no longer be able to give to the private businesses which would also suffer and would probably lead to more redundancies snowballing into further recession.
