Are Tests that important in school?

I sleep in the class, I memorize the whole book in a night, I take the test, and i ace it. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TESTS? Obviously not to memorize, cuz in our life we would rarely need to memorize anything at jobs, since we have internets and book. I belief though that tests will be more worthful if you can use any books, internets, etc' too answer a complex question. Now you would learn something from that.....
oh i forgot....those are called PROJECTS (or not)
