Are swimming, walking, and riding a bicycle cardio?

Do swimming, walking, and bike riding count as cardio exercise? Also, is it ok to gauge your workout by how long you work out? I mean, if I swim for an hour or more, is that alright to go by that, or should I be counting the actual laps? This is a run on question if ever I saw one. Lol. Sorry.

Yup. Anything that gets your heart rate up for an extended period of time is considered cardio (remember, cardio means heart) So any for of exercise where you can feel your heart rate rise should be considered cardio. Swimming has the added benefit of working your muscles almost as much as straigh up strength training. You can count laps or swim for a certain amount of time, its a personal preference either way. Just remember that by counting laps AND timing yourself you can gauge how much effort you are putting into each swim
