Are poets born or made and do you really need to have a different perspective and...

Poets have a different perspective and way of looking at things. I think a person can be "made" to follow rules such as: rhyme, structure, meter, etc. and they can write mediocre poetry with fanfare, because they followed the rules.

But the ones who are born - can say in one sentence something more beautiful, eloquent and profound than an entire novel.

It depends on the individual Godfather. I thinks some poets are born to be poets, while others are influenced by poetry and the art is therefore born in them. I have been scribbling since grade school, and i still don't consider myself to be near where I should be.

you are born with a gift FOR poetry but only become a poet if you use your experience to write it...

did that make sense?

I think my love FOR poetry brought me to write it.

some people are born with an ability to write and express their feelings or ideas - others work had to express what they've experienced and how they feel inside e.g. J. Steinbeck
but in the end
i think what it really takes to be a great writer is the continuous need to develop as an artist and that's what really distinguishes the good from the great (imo)

A writer told me..."you tell good stories"...some tell good stories, some have good stories, some are good stories...and a few have good stories to tell of who they are

I believe life makes good poets become good poets
